TO KILL A KILLER

By: Kirbbie L. Cowart

The story you are about to read is true.  Only the names have been changed.  Many people just like the young man and his family in this story face untold heartache because they are slaves to Satan.

My prayer for you if you are a slave to Sin and the Devil is that you will be made free from the old sin nature after reading this story.

Please Pray for the Family in this story!

June 3, 2007

Last night a lady called me.  She was so broken hearted she could not be comforted.  Her oldest son had just murdered her youngest son, his own brother.  She said he had no remorse whatsoever.  He just said his brother needed killing. He had planned the killing for weeks and had bought a gun for that purpose, she said.  His mother said they never saw it coming even though the signs were everywhere. There was a picture of a man on the cover of TIME magazine that had helped with the planning of 9/11 in New York.  This mother’s son had shown the picture to her and his grandmother, and said, “This is me!  I am a killer!" They told him he did not know what he was talking about but he said, “Yes I do, I am a killer.”  Several weeks later he killed his brother.  His mother told me he would set for hours and watch movies filled with murder and violence, the more killing the better.  If he had the radio on it would be playing hard rock music with lyrics about killing people. In other words, killing was on his mind twenty-four hours a day.

What people don't understand is, it could happen to any family of any race and it has happened many times over. Here this Christian mother and grandmother that had prayed for their children to be saved for many years now faced the most horrible grief, anguish, and heartache anyone could imagine.  What words could any human give to comfort a mother in such a circumstance as this?  She loved the son that is dead, and she loves the son that killed him.  Only God can comfort such a broken heart as this.

After Jim (Name changed) killed his brother he called the police and told them about it.  When the police arrived he walked out of the house and surrendered.  He knelt down and put his hands behind his back and they handcuffed him without any trouble. When the police asked him why he killed his brother, Jim said, “He just needed killing.”  Jim told the police that he had planned on killing five more people that day.

Jim had been on antidepressant drugs for years and many people think this was why he killed his brother.  After about two weeks in jail, Jim had a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital for surgery.  Because of the cost of the medical care, the Sheriff wanted Jim out of his jail, so they let him out on bond to wait for sentencing, because there was not going to be a trial. When Jims mother called me Jim was staying with her and his uncle and grandmother at home. Needless to say, the rest of the family are upset and concerned.

GOING TO SEE A KILLER

Many people asked my wife and I why we were going to see a killer.  They asked “What do you say to a killer.”  They just could not understand.  They said, “Here is a killer out of jail, staying with his mother and  grandmother.  Why, he could kill both of you if he got mad.”  This was just some of the advice we got.  One lady told my wife, “You sure are a submissive wife to go with your husband to see a killer that is not even locked up.

My wife and I went to see Jim and his family I was surprised to see him setting on the front porch as calm as could be. I talked to Jim and read from the Bible scriptures about killing, and what the Bible said he needed to do. He said he had repented for killing his brother.  He made this statement, "It was the only right thing to do," to repent.  I told Jim I did not come to deal with what he did but with what made him do it.  So many times we try to deal with the fruit and not the root.  The root of the problem is the sin nature.

THE EXCUSE FOR MURDER

After several visits with Jim I found out that the only way he could live with what he had done was to make excuses for his actions. He told me what an evil person his brother was; that he had killed three people himself, and that he had killed cats and dogs in cruel ways, and that his brother had tried to kill him at least two times, and tried to blind his uncle.  Jims grandmother and uncle confirmed Jim’s story to me.  Jim’s uncle said he was blind in his right eye because the brother that Jim killed had changed his eye drops and put bleach in the bottle.  Jim said his brother had stolen thousands of dollars from him, and he had went over that day to make his brother pay him back.  He said if he had not been on antidepressant drugs he might not have killed his brother, because it said on the pill bottle they could make you suicidal or homicidal.  For two years he had tried get the doctor to change his medication and even tried to change doctors, but they told him there is a three-year waiting list to change doctors. All of this seems to be a good excuse for “taking him out,” as Jim would say, but the day before he killed his brother he was a sinner, and even an hour before he killed his brother he was still a sinner, and murder comes out of a sin nature.

THE KILLER MUST DIE

The killer must die because murder (sin) carries a death sentence. The State may take into consideration the antidepressant drugs and give a lighter sentence than death, but God requires the death sentence. "The soul that sinneth, it shall surely die,” and, “The wages of sin is death." There is a death sentence on every sinner, because all have sinned.  It was because of Adam disobedience that sin entered into the world and death entered by sin, so the killer must die.  Not only the killer, but also every sinner must die.

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Romans 5:12

WHEN WILL THE DEATH SENTENCE BE CARRIED OUT?

Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

                                          Romans 1:29-31

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

                                                                                                             Galatians 5:19-21

For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

                                                             Matthew 15:19

The Killer must die.  There is no way that Jesus will come and live in the heart of a man with a killing spirit or a spirit of hate.  The "sin" nature, or, the “old man” must die because of the depravity that is so interwoven throughout our nature that it can never enter the kingdom of God or be approved of by God.

I told Jim if all the other people in these verses had a chance to repent, then he could repent as well and find forgiveness and freedom. Jim and I are close friends today I plan to go see him in prison. Jim got a twenty-five year sentence.  I ask that you pray for Jim and his family.

Sin still carries a death sentence

The sin nature must be put to death because it is the very thing that is producing evil thoughts, adulteries, fornication, and murders. Because of Adam’s sin, death was passed on all flesh, and sin still carries a death sentence. We that are saved believe that our death sentence was carried out with Jesus Christ on the cross. "For all have sinned."  Not everybody has committed murder, but all have sinned.  Jesus died on our behalf.  He suffered a death that would have destroyed us, but remember, He is the creator; He cannot be destroyed. The creator hung on the cross as a representative for his creation.  He was our proxy.  Our death became His death in order that His death could become ours.

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.  Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

                                          Romans 6:6-8

At the age of sixteen I also had a killing demon, and hate was building up on the inside of me like a volcano.  Thank God, I saw Jesus in my granddaddy and I wanted the love, joy and peace I saw in him, so I made my way to an old fashioned altar and surrendered my old sinful life to the death of the cross of Jesus Christ.  Old Kirbbie, full of murder and hate, died at the age of sixteen. That night at the age of sixteen the death sentence was carried out at the altar of the First Assembly of God Church in Colmesneil Texas. I was born again, a new creation in Jesus Christ.  For there to be a new birth there must be a death to the old man.  When you surrender to God, you give up all the excuses for why you are like you are, and confess, “I am guilty!  I am a sinner.” I had not killed anybody but it was in my heart.  For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,

                                                            Mark 7:21

But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one "Adam" many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.

                                                            Romans 5:15

And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.  For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.  Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

                      Romans 5:16-21

Many are sitting in the church with hatred toward a brother or sister and do not even realize they are a murderer just as much as Jim is. They will tell you they would never take a gun and kill anybody, and they may not kill with a gun but their tongue can do the same thing.  In the eyes of God you are a murderer when you tell lies to destroy someone's life. I have seen hate and jealousy among church people that has destroyed churches.  In other words, they “killed” the church. There are people that will never attend another church because they have been so hurt after being around people with hatred and unforgiveness in their hearts. In the eyes of God those “hateful people” are "murderers".

Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

                                                                                       1 John 3:15

Call yourself a Christian if you like, but when you stand before God on judgment day you will stand there as a murderer because of the hate in your heart. God sent me to a woman many years ago to tell her she did not have long to live. I took a young minister with me as a witness.  I told him we were going into a home where the people had pictures of black men hanging from trees and the hatred for blacks was very real.  I told this lady she was going to die soon and stand before God and that she needed to repent of the hatred in her heart. She said that God knew her heart.  Besides, she believed God had put a curse on the black man.  That was her excuse for the hatred.  I left there that day knowing that God in his love for lost mankind was so great and that he wanted to save her that day. Three or four weeks later she died and I was called to preach her funeral. The young minister with me could not believe I would go into a home with so much hate and tell that lady she was going to die without God if she did not repent. I don't know if she ever repented. The young minister told me later that her husband gave me looks that could kill at the funeral.  You may be mad at me now for bringing this to your attention but if you die with sin in your heart, hell is waiting you.

Remember, sin carriers a death sentence and it will be carried out.  If you like it can be carried out today here and now if you will repent and ask for God’s mercy and grace to forgive you.  Believe that he died for you and total surrender your old life to His cross in faith that he can raise you from the dead and make you a new creation in him. Please do it today because if you do not, the death sentence will be carried out on judgment day.

KILLERS SITTING IN THE CHURCH HOUSE

Be it black or white or any race of people, if you hate you are a murderer.  We hear it on the news about hate crimes and lawmakers trying to pass laws to stop the hate crimes, but laws will never work. The bible is full of laws against hate, but people hate because it comes from a sin nature.  Many people sitting on the church pew have hate in their hearts. The sad thing about this is, these same people will not go out into the world and drink and party or sleep around. No, they are too good to do that.  The un-forgiveness and hatred in their hearts is like a neon sign that everybody around them can see, but they cannot.  They are killers, and the killer must die.

We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

                                               1 John 3:14

Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

                                                            1 John 3:15

Let me say it this way, “God will not live in a duplex house.”  He never has and He never will. The house must be renovated and made a new dwelling place for the Spirit of God to come and live in a new creation. If you think you can kill, hate, lie, and God will put his stamp of approval on that kind of life you are greatly fooled.  Surrender the old man to the death of the cross and believe that God is able to make you a new creation in Jesus Christ.  You can know the joy of a new creation in other words the joy of being born again.
